climate legislation In NH

New Hampshire’s political landscape is one where climate action - at least in the form of bills - is unlikely. Climate deniers run the House Science, Technology, and Energy committee while Governor Ayotte pledged to follow in Sununu’s footsteps at the State House. This means inaction is likely and legislation that moves us backwards on climate has been introduced. Please reach out to our Organizing Director if you’d like access to our bill tracker! (chantelle@350nh.org). If you are a legislator who introduced a bill you would like us to be aware of please let us know. If you want to email people or post about bills to help other residents support or oppose legislation, please check out our outreach toolkit!

Where to watch for nh legislative updates

Check out these resources to stay up-to-date on legislation that impacts our communities. Our friends at the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) have a State House Watch newsletter every week, where they’ll be tracking hundreds of bills related to justice, dignity, and the common good, including the state budget. The NH Network (for Environment, Energy, and Climate) tracks environmental-focused bills you can learn more about on their website.

Here’s how to sign-in to support or oppose bills online:

  1. Go to bit.ly/nhhouse23 for bills in the House of Representatives or bit.ly/nhsenate23 for bills in the Senate.

  2. Fill out the information they ask for and select the date of the hearing on the calendar.

  3. Select the Committee (ex: House Science, Technology, and Energy) and the Bill Number.

  4. Select “Support” or “Oppose” for the bill, and write a few sentences for testimony (optional) and click “submit.”
